Stephen F. "Steve" Perry

HARDWICK: Stephen Francis "Steve" Perry, 61, of Hardwick died peacefully, on Thursday September 14, 2023, in the comfort of his home with his wife at his side.

He was born November 18,1961 in St. Johnsbury, one of six children born to the late Francis and Eleanor (Riach) Perry. He attended Hardwick Elementary and Hazen Union School in Hardwick.

On July 26, 1997, he married Carolyn Sue Merriam at the United Church of Hardwick.  They spent most of their free time together enjoying each other's company.

Steve worked for Doug Luther farming. However, most of his working years were spent in the concrete business, first working for Brian Perry and Sons in Hardwick, Anderson Concrete in Waterbury and for more than 28 years he was employed by R.J. Gosselin in Derby.

He loved his work, motorcycling, camping, snowplowing, races, and wintering in Florida. In the past, Steve enjoyed Sunday visits with his father. He will be remembered by family and friends as always willing to help others, but he would never ask for help and for the strength and courage he possessed fighting his illness. He will also be missed by his good friend, Rejean Pion.

Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn of Hardwick, a son, Kyle Perry; a stepson, Mark Whipple Jr., and his wife, Michelle, a grandson, Devin Whipple, all of Hardwick; 4 siblings: Brian (Donna) Perry and Valerie (Bryan) Putvain, all of Hardwick, Bruce Perry of Stannard, and Frances Miller of South Carolina; as well as nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

I addition to his parents, Steve was predeceased by a sister, Debbie Robarge in 1997.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the United Church of Hardwick, with Pastor Ed Sunday-Winters, officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in the Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick.
