Stephen (Steve) Rawson

Stephen John (Steve) Rawson passed away on September 7th, 2025, at his home in Stannard  following a lifelong illness.

He was born on September 12, 1961, the youngest of 7 children born to Dexter and Marilyn Rawson in Townsend, Vermont.

He attended school at Hazen Union where he left his junior year to start out in the workforce at the Cabot Creamery.

Steve started his life with Angela Taylor (Ward) . In the fall of 1985, Steve became a father. Going on to raise two children together. His biggest accomplishment in life was his two children, Stephen and Sarah.

After working for Cabot Creamery Steve began to farm for a time. Even owning his own farm in Hardwick prior to beginning a career in carpentry as a laborer, and most recently he started his own business with his best friend Larry Horner.

Steve enjoyed all the local county fairs. He enjoyed the tractor pulls, especially the antique tractor competitions.  Making sure to check out any piece of farm equipment along the way. Steve's hobbies didn't stop there, he had a green thumb in the garden and enjoyed sugaring in the winter. He was just happy being outdoors. Steve also enjoyed fishing. He was a jack of all trades; able to  fix almost anything, handing that gift off to his son Stephen.

Steve was a hardworking man who enjoyed showing his kids how to turn a dollar as he would go to the local Thomas Hirchak auctions. He would buy a car, take it home for a tune up and turn a dollar. Making sure they all had a hand in it so everyone could make a little on the deal. He was an extraordinary yet simple man. He will be tremendously missed  by his children.

He was predeceased by his parents Dexter and Marilyn Rawson.

Survivors include his son, Stephen D. Rawson of Enosburg Falls, and daughter, Sarah Reed (Brandon) of Fairfax; four grandchildren, Ashton Rawson, Everett Gilman, Garsyn Reed and Brynlee Reed. His siblings, Pete Rawson of Standard, Paul Rawson of Hyde Park, Perry Rawson (Patty) of East Hardwick, Melvin Rawson (Shirley) of Hardwick, Nancy Rowell (Ed) of East Calais, and  David Rawson (Karen) of Montana; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He also leaves his good friend Larry Horner of Eden. A very special thanks to him from the family as he helped during Steve's final days.

All family gatherings will be private at the convenience of his family.
