Rose M. Reen

MORRISVILLE: Rose Reen, 81, of Morrisville, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.  She was born November 28, 1941 to Joseph and Harriett Williams of New York City.  Rose was one of five children raised in Manhattan.   After several trips to Vermont, Rose made the permanent move to the Green Mountain State in the late seventies with six children in tow, before adding what would be one more child to the family.  She called Vermont her home for the next forty-five years, where, through raising her seven children, her close connection with her large extended family and through her many close friendships from work, she established deep roots in the Morrisville community.  Rose worked for several years in the social services industry before working more than two decades at Pratt and Reed/Vermont Precision Wood Works.  Over these many years, Rose became well known and well-loved in the Lamoille County area.

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend and aunt, Rose is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Wayne and Sue Grube of Midway, GA, Luanne Grube of Newport, VT, John and Diana Reen of Dahlonega, GA, William and Doreen Reen of Charlotte, NC, Joseph and Robin Reen of Gypsum, CO, Patrick and Kristina Reen of Lincoln, VT and Thomas and Katie Reen of Waterbury Center, VT.  Rose is also survived by her brother, Charles (Mickey) Williams and his wife, Catherine of Queens, NY, and  sister-in-law, Patricia Williams of Naugatuck, Ct, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.  She was especially close with her oldest granddaughter, Janelle West of Lincoln, NH.  Rose would be the first to tell you that her legacy is her children.  She devoted her entire life to teaching them right from wrong, respecting the value of hard work, the importance of treating others well, and that you don't need much to have everything you need.  In return, her children were equally devoted and owe their success and best qualities to her.

Calling hours will be held from 6:00 -8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Morrisville.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at: 10:00 AM, on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the same location, with Father Jon Schnobrich, celebrant.  Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Morrisville.

We wish to thank the Copley Terrace community, where Rose lived for the past fourteen years, for their support and care.  We also wish to thank the wonderful staff at Lamoille Home Health and Hospice for the end-of-life care they provided Rose during her last several months with us.
