Raymond E. Howard

HARDWICK: Raymond Erwin Howard, 79, of Hardwick died September 12, 2026, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville.

He was born on February 21, 1947, in Hardwick; the son of Erwin E. and Dorothy (Dodge) Howard. He graduated from Hardwick Academy in the class of 1966.

He married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean Martin on February 27, 1965. Together they raised three sons.

Raymond worked in the construction business most of his work years. He was employed by A.G. Anderson Cement Co and Bill Brown Construction. Later he worked in surveying for the State of Vermont and Fairbanks Scales in St. Johnsbury. He retired in 2000 due to declining health.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and the outdoors. Ray will be remembered for his hardworking nature and most especially for the life and family he and Bonnie built together. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include: three sons Brent (Teal) Howard of Waterville, Clint (Theresa) Howard and Trevor (Dawn) Howard, all of Hardwick; two siblings Roger (Sandra) Howard of Ormond Beach, FL., and Patricia (Ken) Williams of Stannard; grandchildren: Dana, Shayne, Lars, Kalista, Zane, and Dale; great grandchildren: Willow and Ember Lynn; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ray was predeceased by his beloved wife Bonnie in 2013; his father Erwin E. Howard; his mother and stepfather Dorothy and Louis P. Bird; and two brothers, Louis Bird and Carey Bird.

In accordance with Ray’s wishes, all services will be private at the convenience of his family.
