Ralph A Cleary

JOHNSON: Ralph Cleary passed away in the early morning hours of April 28th. 2025, at his home with loved ones at his side.

He was born June 9, 1940, to the late Ward and Dorothy Cleary.  Ralph A Cleary led a long and fulfilling life, distinguished by his unwavering dedication to his family and lifelong friends. Remembered for his boundless kindness and remarkable sense of humor. Ralph left an impression on all who had the fortune to know him. A lifelong friend said it best at his service "if you were lucky enough to be in Ralph's circle".

Ralph was the last of seven children. He was predeceased by his brothers Roy, George, Donald, Richard, Robert, and his sister Helen.

He's survived by many, but those he was closest to include his friend/significant other and his car ride companion Janet Spitzer; his nephews, Richard Ryea of Hyde Park, Michael Spitzer & wife Crystal of N. Hyde Park, and his niece, Laurie Domina & husband Donald of Highgate. These family members may have been a niece and nephews, but they meant so much more; and all their children, April, Donnie, Amber, Richard, John, and Chelsea, were like his grandchildren.

Ralph was blessed by the Spitzer family for a home, good friends and friends that were like his brothers David & Donald.

Ralph is also survived by his son, Donald Cleary.

Ralph spent his younger years logging, working in sawmills, building houses, working on equipment, caring for sheep and haying.  Ralph spent many years taking immense pride in the work he did as caretaker of Hooper Cemetery in Hyde Park.

Ralph loved to be outdoors. Whether it be hunting with his nephews & family, fishing, gardening or the sweet smell of maple in the sugar house or just wandering through the woods.

Ralph being a jack of all trades and master of none. Always willing to lend a helping hand. Always helping his neighbors and his lifelong friends with mowing, snow blowing driveways, handyman work and helping them get rid of their abundance of cookies and tea.

The family BBQ's will not be the same.  His laugh, smile and the glint of trouble in his blue eyes will be missed.

Ralph had many lifelong friends, some have gone before him and some he leaves behind, but his willingness, generosity, and spirit will live on in his friends and family.

Funeral services were held May 1st, 2025, at his final resting place. A place of great pride for him, in Hooper Cemetery. A family gathering followed at the Spitzer home, to celebrate his life and share stories.  He would have approved.
