Marvin P. Magoon

Marvin Paul Magoon, 94, of North Hyde Park formerly of Morrisville and Hardwick died Saturday, January 25, 2025, at his residence with his family by his side.

He was born on November 24, 1930, in Stowe; the son of the late Paul and Dorothy (Dugan) Magoon.  He attended Stowe public schools.

He later entered the United States Navy.  He proudly served his country from 3-10-1949 until 3-9 1954, when he was honorably discharged honorably discharged.

Marvin first married Morna Elaine McCall on February 12, 1956. She died on May 18, 1993, and he later married Claudine S. Johnson in 2003. She died January 12, 2023.

Marvin was employed by several businesses in the northern Vermont area. In his younger years he was a farm hand. He worked in construction for Caledonia Sand and Gravel, Roy Dugan Plumbing in Stowe, Percy's Excavating in Stowe, and for the Village of Stowe.  He retired from full-time employment in 1992. He later worked part-time for Top Notch in Stowe and McDonald's in Morrisville. Marvin was a past member of the Stowe Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farm animals and gardening. He was known to sell fresh eggs and often gave away his vegetables to friends and the Food Shelf.   He especially enjoyed his two great-granddaughters, shopping with Adreanna, who would help fill his grocery cart and reach items close to the floor, and the many hours spent entertaining Arianna. She liked playing Doctor and making faces. He would call her the wild one. Marvin was a very kind man. He will be remembered fondly by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Survivors include: a daughter:  Melody Magoon, of Wilder, TN; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Magoon and husband Adam Petrie, of North Hyde Park, and Haley Magoon and her husband David Ellis, of Hardwick; two great-granddaughters Adreanna and Arianna several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his two wives, Marvin was predeceased by two sons, Terrence Magoon and Rex Magoon; and two brothers, Glendon Magoon and David Magoon.

Services will be held in the spring.
