Marguerite J "Mariette" Fournier

MORRISVILLE/ CRAFTSBURY: Marguerite J "Mariette" Fournier passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2026, at the age of 88 at Copley Hospital. She was born on June 8th, 1938, in Hardwick; the oldest of five children born to Emile J and Marguerite (Ferland) Fournier. She graduated from Hardwick Academy in the class of 1956, then moved to Manchester, CT for work. For twelve years she was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft and then went to work for the Arthur Brown Photo Service for twenty-four years, where she became a master in color printing.

In 1995, she returned to Vermont and moved into the Brooklyn Heights Condominiums in Morrisville, where she made her home for the next thirty years. While residing there, she made many new friends who for years met with her for coffee at McDonalds on a daily basis. Special friends were Phil and Bette Rochette who were especially kind to her in those last years. She was happy to be living near her family once again, and she hosted many gatherings at her home. She was a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morrisville.

Mariette enjoyed knitting and many can attest to her generosity in sharing her colorful sweaters and afghans with her family and friends. She was a big fan of basketball and followed the UConn Women's team as well as the Boston Celtics with much enthusiasm. She traveled extensively in her younger years with trips to Panama, Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, and China.

In July 2025, she moved to the Craftsbury Community care Center where she found a loving home with devoted caregivers who enriched her final year. We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the staff who took such good care of her.

Mariette is survived by her brother Emile (Diane) of Shelburne, sister Vanessa of Hardwick, and sisters-in-law Andrea of Morrisville and Carole of Florida. She is also survived by three nieces, Erin, Kelly, and Lori as well as five nephews, Mitchell, Tyler, Brian, Eric, and Kevin, nine grandnieces and grandnephews, one special aunt, Claire Burns, and much extended family.

She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers Clermont and Phil.

Per Mariette's request, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am, Aug 15th, 2026, at St Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardwick with interment to follow at the Fairview Cemetery.
