Kenneth Breitmeyer

Breitmeyer, Kenneth of Greensboro, VT went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 29, 2025, at the age of 77. We know Ken is with Jesus now because the Bible says: "God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus, so that anyone who believes in Him wouldn't have to suffer the 'second death' (eternity in hell), but would have eternal life with Him in Heaven. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him." The Bible also says, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."

Ken is predeceased by his father Arthur Breitmeyer. He is survived by his sweet mother, Ellen Breitmeyer; his wife and life partner, Judith A. Breitmeyer; his 5 children: Jessica Locke, Virginia Lapierre, Job Breitmeyer, Sarah Kroeger, and Daniel Breitmeyer; and their spouses; 29 wonderful grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren (with more on the way); and his dear sister, Judith J. Breitmeyer, her husband Michael, their two daughters and their families.

Ken grew up in Livonia and Plymouth Michigan. He put himself through college at Eastern Michigan University and became a teacher. His first teaching position was at Thurston High School in Michigan. He was a draftsman and a master welder. He owned and operated a motorcycle shop—Ecstasy Cyclery (a lot of Hells Angels were his customers). He met Judy in 1975, and they moved to Wolcott, Vermont in 1977. Ken worked at Leo's Welding 1978-79, then started his own portable welding business. In 1981 Ken was hired to teach the shop classes at Craftsbury Academy. Not long after, he moved his growing family to a little house on a hill in Craftsbury. When they began to phase out the shop program, Ken went back to school to learn to be a Driver's Ed teacher and continued teaching at CA until 2006. During that same time, he owned and operated a portable sawmill, had a gun shop where he did gun/rifle repairs and built custom .45's, sold Hardy Outdoor Furnaces, and owned the Craftsbury garbage route for 5 years. Ken also hand carved the 2 wooden signs that are still standing on either side of Craftsbury Common. In 2005, Ken and Judy moved to Greensboro. He left CA in 2007 and began teaching Drivers Ed at North Country High School until 2010. He retired from teaching to become a blueberry farmer. Ken was a diligent provider for his family, always working at least 2 jobs.

In Wolcott he built a woodshed, a 3-car garage, and a 20 X 30 two story barn.
In Craftsbury he built a woodshed and a 4-car garage with an apartment above.
In Greensboro he built (with help) a woodshed, a chicken coop/rabbit house, a 30 X 40 two story barn and the farm shop.
Ken had several hobbies that occupied his free time—when he had any. He loved antiques, hot rods, old car swap meets, coins, guns—especially .45's, gun shows, old tractors and bulldozers, bowling, and buying things for his wife.

Ken came to have a saving faith in Jesus Christ in 1979 at the Elmore Methodist church, and he took his family to church most every Sunday from then on. He and Judy attended a weekly Bible study for many years and were active members of the congregations where they worshipped.

Ken was known for his kindness, generosity, humor, work ethic, and his ability to spot a good deal.

His celebration of life service will be held at the Grace Brethren Church of Irasburg located at 3 Vt Rte. 14, Irasburg, VT. 05845. Viewing will be on Sunday, June 8th from 1-1:30 with the service immediately following.
