John A. Corpaci

EAST HARDWICK: John Allen Corpaci, 83, of East Hardwick, died peacefully on November 25, 2023, in the comfort of his home with his loving wife by his side.

He was born March 21, 1940, in Waterbury CT; the son of the late Raymond and Josephine (Mazzone) Corpaci.  He was born into a large Italian family and spent many summers in the Catskills sowing his wild oats. He graduated in the class of 1959 from Platt High School in Meriden, CT.

He entered the United States Army National Guard. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged in 1962.

John then entered the Culinary Institute of America where he majored in restaurant management and graduated in 1965. Following his graduation, he was employed by his father at the family-owned Johnny's Restaurant, a very popular eatery and bar in Meriden Ct. known for its unique barber chair bar stools, until the business was sold.  Later, he worked as a Maître d' for Nuchie's Restaurant in Forestville, CT., until he retired in 2008.  During his tenure as Maître d' Jack was known as a gentleman. He was a sharp dresser and owned his own tuxedo.  Jack meticulously handled all the details for the wedding party. He took care of everything.  When he retired in 2008, his retirement party was attended by local politicians and city officials who presented him with the keys to the city and a proclamation from the State of Connecticut for his outstanding community service.

On August 8, 2008, he married Donna Mae Jacquette in East Hardwick where they made their forever home. Enjoying long drives throughout the Vermont countryside, eating Sherbert and dining in many Vermont restaurants. He will be missed by his family, friends and especially by his dog, Minnie.

Survivors include: his wife, Donna of East Hardwick, a son, Marc Corpaci, and a grandson, Christopher Corpaci, both of Virginia; two stepsons, Tyler Grandbois of Connecticut and Kyle Grandbois of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant brother.

All services will be in the spring at the convenience of his family.
