Jennie Salls Allen

Rock Hill, SC, / Greensboro, Vt:   Jennie Nellie Salls Allen, 88, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, formerly of Greensboro, died Saturday, November 30, 2024, in Rock Hill, SC.

She was born in Greensboro on August 11, 1936; the daughter of the late Howard Hazen Salls and Ruth (Coolbeth) Salls.  Jennie graduated from Greensboro High School and continued her education at Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing graduating in the class of1957.

On August 20, 1983, Jennie married William Granville Spradlin in Bolton, Vt. He died October 14,1994. She later married Fred Allen in August 2003. They made their home during the winter months in Rock Hill, SC and during the summer months in Greensboro.

Jennie was employed as a Registered Nurse in several hospitals and nursing homes. She enjoyed more than 38 years in health care service. She retired in 1997.

As a young lady, she was a member of the Greensboro United Church of Christ. Recently she was a member of the Oakland Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, SC. She enjoyed reading, camping and family events.

Survivors include stepchildren, Donald Spradlin and his wife, Elizabeth of Scituate, MA, Thomas Allen and his wife, Jamie of Rock Hill, SC, Linda Lussier and her husband, Matt of Hawthorne, FL, and Lisa Mabry and her husband, John of Oakland, CA; six step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Jennie was predeceased by a brother, Edward Sall in 1997, a sister, Patricia Hislop in 2014 and her husband, Fred Allen in 2007.

Memorial Services will be held at 11AM, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Greensboro United Church of Christ, with Pastor Kim Larose officiating.
