Ivan R. Renaud

HARDWICK: Ivan Rosaire Renaud,93, a native Hardwickian passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Hardwick on January 6, 1931; one of 9 children born to the late Albert J. Renaud Sr. and Lydia (Brochu) Renaud. He attended Hardwick's rural one room school on Center Road and graduated from Hardwick Academy in the class of 1949.

On June 23, 1950, he enlisted in the US Marine Corp. He proudly served his country in Korea and was honorably discharged at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on June 22, 1954.

On June 28,1958, he married Elaine Patricia Bowen at St. Norbert's Church in Hardwick. They built their forever home on the original Albert Renaud Sr family farm, in Hardwick.

Ivan first operated his own logging truck in the family pulp business. Later was employed by the Town of Hardwick as a heavy equipment operator. At the same time, he was a member of the Hardwick Police Force with his brothers Phil and Fidelle. He was often seen on duty at barn dances, and school events.   He retired in 1993.

He was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church, a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, the VFW, and the American Legion Post # 7 of Hardwick.  He was a sports fan. In his youth, Ivan and close friends were known to hitchhike to Boston for a Red Sox Game. He also attended and followed local sports. He enjoyed vacation, Saturday night dances and playing cards, but most of all, he was a quiet man who enjoyed his family, friends, and home.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Elaine of Hardwick; two children, Norbert Renaud of Hardwick and Alisa Renaud Goodrich and her husband Doug, of Essex Junction; a sister-in-law, Alice Renaud of Canada; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was predeceased by all his siblings: L. Phillip Renaud, Raymond, Lucien, Clement, Fidelle, Albert Renaud Jr., Jeannine Sulliman and Theresa Ferland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM., on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Mary Queen of all Saints Parish, St. Norbert's Catholic Church location, South Main Street, Hardwick, with Father Raj Madri celebrant. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick.
