Gloria J. Brimblecombe

GROTON-MARSHFIELD: Gloria J. Brimblecombe, 81, of Marshfield passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, in the comfort of her home with her family at her side.

She was born March 6, 1942, in Barre, the daughter of the late Fred and Eleanor (Loso) Jewett. She grew up on the family dairy farm where she loved helping her dad care of the cows.

Gloria was a 1960 graduate of Marshfield High School. On June 10,1961, she married Robert L. Brimblecombe in Marshfield. They made their forever home on the Groton Forest Road, where they raised their two children, Robin, and James.

She was first employed by the American Fidelity Insurance Company in Montpelier. For several years, she farmed with her husband.  She was a secretary at Rock of Ages Manufacturing Plant.  Gloria stayed at home to care for their young children.  When the children entered school, she once again returned to the work world as secretary to the Principal at Twinfield Union School for more than 10 years.

Gloria was an avid flower gardener. She spent over 40 years working on her flowers and gardens at her home on Groton Pond.  People would come from miles, just to see her lovely gardens and admire the colors.  She loved spending time with and caring for her grandchildren. She was a wonderful seamstress and would often make outfits for the little ones to wear.  She enjoyed attending quilt shows with friends.  Gloria will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.

Survivors include, her husband of 62 years, Robert; two children, Robin Schunk and her husband, Edward, and James Brimblecombe and his wife, Bobbi; grandchildren, Austin Mills and his wife, Katie, Tiffani Schunk and her partner, Sam Mattson, Tessa Brimblecombe, and Jordan Brimblecombe and her partner Caleb Kennison; great grandson, Parker Mills;  sister, Lois Frank, brothers, Pete (Donna) and Jon (Sylvia) Jewett;  sister-in-law, Cathy Brimblecombe, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by two siblings, Joan Leach and Jay Jewett: brother-in-law, Kenneth Brimblecombe, brother-in-law, Stanley Brimblecombe and wife, Ginger and nephew, Scott.

A Celebration of Life to honor Gloria will be held from 2-4 PM, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Robin, and Edward Schunk, 2273 VT RT # 232, Marshfield.
