Gilles J. Paquette

Gilles J. Paquette, 96, of Morrisville died April 3, 2024, at the Greensboro Nursing Home following a decline in health.

He was born March 11, 1928, in Clarksville, NH, one of five children born to Arthur J. Paquette, and Eliane D. (Dumoulin) Paquette. He attended school in West Stewartstown and in Clarksville, NH.

On November 26, 1960, he married Muriel Marie Michaud in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. They made their home in Hyde Park and later in Morrisville.

In 1943, his family moved to Hyde Park, where he worked on his family's dairy farm until it was sold in 1969. After the farm was sold, Gilles worked for different contractors in the construction business around Stowe and Morrisville.  He was caretaker, sexton, and treasurer of St. Theresa's Cemetery in Hyde Park for more than 45 years. He retired in 2003.

Gilles was a member of St. Theresa's Church in Hyde Park and Most Holy Name of Jesus Church in Morrisville.  He was an honorary life member of the Father Boivin Council # 5041, Knights of Columbus. He was devoted family man who enjoyed tinkering and lawn work. He will be remembered by his family and neighbors for his kindness and his willingness to help everyone.

Survivors include, his wife Muriel of 63 years, a daughter France Paquette, both of Morrisville; a brother J. Alain Paquette, of Morristown; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gilles was predeceased by 3 siblings, Yolande Lemire, Rita Paquette, and Madeleine Masseau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 301 Brooklyn Street, in Morrisville, with Father Jon Schnobrich, celebrant.

Visiting hours will be held at the church from 10:00 am until the hour of the Mass.
