Dorothy E.  "Dot" Larabee

MORRISVILLE: Dorothy Evelyn" Dot" Larabee, 90, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024, at The Manor in Morristown with her loving family at her side.

She was born April 7, 1933, in Elmore, one of six children born to the late Merton and Minnie (Hadley) Douglas. She attended West Woodbury public school.

On April 18, 1954, she married Richard Ernest Larabee in Elmore. Together they raised four children, living in Elmore and later in Morrisville.

As a young woman, Dot was able to stay at home to care for her husband and her young children. When her children started school, she entered the work world. Dot was employed by several area businesses including Hardwick Knitwear, Ames Department Store, and Johnson Woolen Mills, but her heart was always to be at home with her family.

She was an active member of the Morrisville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for more than 54 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, drawing, and writing poems.  She was a gifted musician, enjoying singing, playing the guitar, piano, and writing her own songs.   She was often heard playing the piano at The Manor, helping to bring joy and comfort to anyone who wanted to listen. She was a practical joker and never lost her sense of humor.  She will be missed by her family and everyone who had the privilege to know her.

Survivors include: three children, Dwayne Larabee, Wanda Brown, and her husband Larry, all of Morrisville and Wanita Westbrook and her husband David, of Johnson; 13 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Richard Larabee on March 25, 2006; a son, Richard "Rick" Larabee on December 26, 2016, and all her siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM., on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3654 Laporte Road, Morristown, Vermont. A gathering will immediately follow at the Morrisville VFW to celebrate her life.
