Deborah M. Poulin

HYDE PARK: Deborah Marie Poulin, 74, of Hyde Park died Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington.

She was born December 10, 1949, in St. Albans; the daughter of the late Robert L. and Eva (Jones) Mayhew.  She attended several public schools throughout northern Vermont including Franklin, Enosburg, Hardwick and Sheldon.   Deborah graduated in the class of 1968.

On November 12, 1971, she married Alfred "Fred" Raymond Poulin in Greensboro, VT.

In her earlier years she was employed as a laborer in several different fields, including farming, laundry service, and accounting.  Until she retired, she worked for many years in the housekeeping department at Smugglers Notch Resort.

One of Deborah's greatest joys was spending time with her family: playing Aggravation and Yahtzee with her Aunt Dockey, Uncle Buzzy and brother Mike on a weekly basis for hours, holidays at Michelle's house, seeing the large extended family at the annual family reunions.   Deborah always had stories to share.

In her younger years, Deborah played softball and enjoyed a good game of horseshoes (even intimidating a few men with her precision and throws).   After retiring, she spent much of her free time quilting; making personalized quilts for friends and family.   She often called Aunt Lorraine to discuss ideas and design patterns.  Whenever she had a sewing related question, her friend Andrea came to her aide.  In recent years she became a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Hyde Park

Survivors include: two brothers, Robert Mayhew of Hardwick and Joseph Mayhew of Delta, OH; many nieces and nephews; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Deborah was predeceased by her husband Fred, in December 2011, a brother Michael Mayhew, an infant sister Jennifer R. Mayhew and a niece Rebecca Mayhew.

Graveside Services were held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 11 AM, in the Center Cemetery in Hyde Park with Deacon David O'Brien officiating.
