Obituary

                                                    Conrad J. Massé

GREENSBORO — Conrad J. Massé, 91, of Greensboro, formerly of Craftsbury, died October 15, 2026, at his residence following a period of declining health. His family was at his side.

He was born March 12, 1935, in Cowansville, Quebec, Canada, the son of the late Aline and Albert Massé. As a young boy, his family relocated to a farm in Elmore, Vermont. They later moved to Craftsbury, where Conrad attended public schools.

Conrad was employed as an engineer in Meriden, Connecticut, throughout his working life. Following his retirement, he returned to Vermont, where he enjoyed the outdoors, bear and deer hunting, and fishing. He especially enjoyed raising fish in his well-maintained, stocked ponds. His fishing derbies gave him great pleasure, and friends would often stop to admire the ponds in awe as they watched the fish jump.

He married Bronwyn Potter in the late 1980s in Bennington. They made their home in Craftsbury before later moving to Greensboro.

Survivors include his children, Deborah (Jack) Haggett and Richard Massé, both of Meriden, Connecticut, and Mark Massé (fiancée Laura Martin) of Craftsbury; two stepdaughters, Linda (Kenneth) Hall of Stannard and Patti Foster (companion Rusty Ferland) of Hardwick; grandchildren Catherine Haggett, Thomas Haggett, Bridgette Massé, and Nicholas Massé; siblings Real (Pauline) Massé of Cheshire, Connecticut, Ronald Massé, of Wolcott, and Giselle (Alton) Whipple of Derby; and sister-in-law Paula Massé of Craftsbury.

He was predeceased by his wife, Bronwyn, in 2025; his grandson, William Haggett; and his siblings Florian Massé, Donald Massé, Denise LaCroix, Jeaninne Morel, Theresa Ward, and Marcel Massé.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Mary Queen of All Saints Parish (St. Michael Catholic Church) in Greensboro Bend, with Father James Zaccaro as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Mary Queen of All Saints Parish (St. Michael’s Church), P.O. Box 496, Hardwick, VT 05843.

Arrangements are in the care of Northern Vermont Funeral Service, 60 Elm Street, Hardwick. Online condolences are welcome at northernvermontfuneralservice.com.
