Christopher L. Courchaine

Wolcott: Christopher Lee Courchaine "Chris", 64, a longtime resident of Wolcott passed away at Copley Hospital on April 2, 2024, due to a longtime illness. He was surrounded by his family and friends.

Chris was born February 9, 1960, in Morrisville, the youngest of five children born to Edward and Elizabeth (Betty) (McNaney) Courchaine. He graduated from Peoples Academy in the class of 1978 and continued his education at Vermont Technical College in Randolph. He later married Sue Paronto in June of 1990. They lived most of their married life in Wolcott where they raised their three daughters.

As a young man, Chris was employed in the Sales Department at Heritage (Nordic) Ford in Burlington. He worked his way up to Sales Manager. He also worked with his good friend, Scott Carpenter at Mansfield Motorcars in Waterbury Center. He transitioned to wholesaling for the remainder of his work life and worked for Chris Auto Sale of Springfield, MA. Chris spent most of his young adulthood in the company of friends, doing the things he loved. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing sports, notably softball for the Mooseheads and Green Mountain Sports, for as long as he could and continued to watch them religiously after he couldn't play anymore. He loved baseball, softball, football, and Formula1 Racing. He spent many summer weekends camping with his wife and children and all his friends and their families. In the winter he loved snowmobiling, so much so that years ago Lamoille County Snopackers would make a special loop around his house so he could get to the trail. He also enjoyed deer camp, cheering for the Vikings (and against the Giants), watching his children play sports, and family vacations to Liki Tiki. He will be remembered for his famous Sunday morning breakfast which he always turned into a big production.

He is survived by his mother Betty Courchaine of Hyde Park; Sue Courchaine, his former wife and life-long friend of Eden; three daughters, Heather Hill and her husband Bruce of Elmore; Julie Sims and husband Isaiah of Newnan, GA, and Lee Anne Courchaine also of Newnan, GA; three grandchildren Greyson and Hallie Hill and baby Sims expected in September; four siblings Pat, Mark, Holly and Scott; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Edward A Courchaine, and his very best friends Frenchy (Michel) Deblois and Scott Fitzgerald.

A reception to honor Chris will be held at 2 PM., on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Elmore State Park in Lake Elmore.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Lamoille Home Health and Hospice, 54 Farr Avenue, Morrisville, VT 05661. His family thanks them for their care.
