Charlene Fay Duffy

JOHNSON: Charlene Fay Duffy passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31st, 2025, at The Manor in Morrisville. She was born in St Albans on March 7th, 1946, to Roy and Marion Wescom. She was predeceased by her husband Arnold of 54 years on January 30, 2019, Charlene enjoyed the simple things in life, she had her home and family and that was all that she needed to be happy. She was a good innocent soul and was always happy to see others doing well. To her daughters and husband, she was, "Ma" until she wouldn't answer then it was "Charlene". As a grandmother it was always grammy, gram, grammy hat, and grammy chickee. She had a special bond with her dog Bambi. She spoke of her to everyone, her doctors and nurses. They all knew about her little girl. Her favorite Christmas gift was a picture of Bambi, and it sat on her stand next to her bed so she could see it every day.

She looked forward to watching her "stories" every afternoon, then it was Gunsmoke, and the Hallmark channel. Her fun was playing cards, Phase ten and poker, going to the Casino, family gatherings and going out to eat. She was an amazing baker in her earlier years, often the house would be full of the smell of homemade breads, rolls, donuts and pies baking. Later in life when it wasn't expected of her to make a dish, she would come up with something, even when she was not feeling well. She would help anyone as much as she could by staying with them when they were sick and being there for her daughters following the birth of their children. She was like a nurse and a source of comfort during some of their hardest times in life.

Charlene was also predeceased by her daughters   Sharon Duffy and Shena Caldwell; her granddaughter Valerie Goslette; both of her parents; brothers Wayne, Roy and Merritt Wescom, and sister Nancy Lilley, all of whom she has missed so much. In her immediate family, she is survived by her daughters Sherry Smith and husband, William of Johnson, and Shelly Lopez and husband  Nick of Morrisville; her grandchildren, Anthony Goslette, Amanda Murray and husband Jimmy, Amber Goslette and partner Jeff, Joshua Wheelock and partner Krystal, Chaice Lopez, and Kyle Smith and wife Amber; great grandchildren, Destiny, Jacob, Emily, Hailey, Izaiah, Charlie, Darius and Alex.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the United Church in Johnson, with Rev. Pat Thompson officiating. The burial will be held in Waterville, later in 2025.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Lamoille Area Cancer Network, P.O. Box 828, Morrisville, Vt. 05661.
