Bert S. Hooper

HARDWICK: Bert Stanley Hooper, 75, of Hardwick died July 10, 2024, at UVM Medical Center in Burlington following a brief illness.

He was born May 20, 1949, in Hardwick; the son of the late Richard and Rachael Georgette (Guillette) Hooper.

He attended Hardwick Academy, graduating in the class of 1967. Bert continued his education at Champlain College in Burlington, graduating in 1969.

On July 10,1970, he entered the US Air Force. He proudly served his country in the State of Washington as a General Accounting Specialist. Sargeant Hooper was Honorably Discharged from Active duty at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington state, on April 30, 1974. He then returned to Vermont, settling in Hardwick where he has since made his home.

He was employed for many years by the US Postal Service in Essex.

Bert enjoyed traveling, coin collecting, cooking and sharing recipes with his cousins, photography, and family gatherings.  Bert had no children of his own but considered his cousins to be his close family.

Survivors include: one Aunt Gisele Guillette; 17 cousins: Deborah Lawson, Richard Baker, Jack Baker, Sherry Baker, Lucille Thomas, Stanley Guillette, Cecile Matan, Helen Guillette, Arthur LeBlanc, David LeBlanc, Rachael Williams, Irene Hill, Rita Griffin, Albert LeBlanc, Denise Whitcomb, Diane LeBlanc, Anne Marie LeBlanc and their families.

Visiting hours will be held from 6-8-PM, on Friday evening, July 19, 2024, at Northern Vermont Funeral Home, 60 Elm Street, Hardwick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Mary Queen of all Saints Parish, St. Norbert's Church location, South Main Street in Hardwick.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Lamoille Area Cancer Network, P.O. Box 828, Morrisville, Vt.  05661 or to the Hardwick Rescue Squad, P.O Box 837, Hardwick, Vt 05843.
