Barbara A. Darrah

MORRISVILLE: Barbara Ann Darrah, 83, a longtime resident of Morrisville died Monday March 9th, 2026, at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, with family by her side.

She was born August 13, 1942, in Burlington; the daughter of the late Herber W. and Edna M. (Zeno) Taft. She attended Morrisville public school.

She married David Lee Darrah in Morrisville, on October 26, 1958.  Together they raised three children.

In her earlier years, Barbara was employed by Atlas Plywood and Concord Manufacturing, both in Morrisville. She was a daycare provider for forty plus years and was still caring for a few children the day she went to the hospital. She was lovingly known as "Barbie" to her daycare family, and will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with the many children and families whose lives she touched, and of course the chocolate chip cookies. Barb had a special gift of caring for others, especially children. Through her years of working with families in the community, she created a nurturing and welcoming environment where countless children felt safe, loved and encouraged to grow. She truly loved watching children learn, and she celebrated their milestones as if they were her own.  To many, she was more than a caregiver; she became part of the family.

Barb was known for her gentle spirit, patience, and generous heart.  She had a warm smile that made people feel instantly welcome and a calm presence that comforted those around her. Her kindness and dedication left a lasting impression on the many families who were fortunate enough to know her.

Barbara attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Morrisville. She enjoyed gardening and biking with her sisters.

Survivors include three children, Robin Reen of Colorado, David (Elaine) Darrah of New Hampshire, and Timothy (Wanda) Darrah of Morrisville; Grandchildren Jennifer (Ryan) Graham, of North Carolina and Sophia and Mia Darrah of Argentina; Great-grandchildren: Della, Jude, Archer Graham of North Carolina and Darius Griggs of Vermont. A sister Eva Bapp, of Hyde Park; and many nieces and nephews,

Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband David, in 2014; a grandson Johnathan Griggs, siblings Herber Taft Jr, Gertrude (Neil) Lowell, Lula (Dayle) Allen: and a brother-in-law Bernard Bapp; and most recently her sister Rhoda Bedell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 65 Best Street, Morrisville. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery.   Friends, family and the many children whose lives she helped shape are warmly invited to join in honoring her memory when details are announced.
